Sri Kodandarama Swamy Pavitrotsavams Begin in Tirupati

Tirupati, Aug 8 (TNT): The annual Pavitrotsavams of Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Tirupati began on Saturday with traditional rituals performed as per Agama scriptures.

The Pavitrotsavams are conducted to rectify any inadvertent lapses that may occur during the daily rituals, worship and festivals performed throughout the year and to preserve the sanctity of the temple.

As part of the festivities, the processional deities of Sri Sita, Rama and Lakshmana were taken to the Yagasala through the Vimana Pradakshina in the morning.

Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed with milk, curd, honey, sandalwood, turmeric and coconut water. This was followed by Shattumora and Asthanam.

In the evening, Sri Sita, Rama and Lakshmana were taken in a procession on the Golden Tiruchi along the Mada Streets of the temple, blessing the devotees.

Pavitra Pratishta, Sayanadhivasam and other Vedic rituals will be performed on Saturday night.

On August 9, Pavitra Samarpana will be performed in the morning, followed by special Vedic rituals at the Yagasala in the evening.

Deputy Executive Officer B. Nagaratna, Superintendent K. Srinivasulu Reddy, Temple Inspector Suresh Babu, temple priests, Srivari Seva volunteers and a large number of devotees participated in the programme.
