Skill-based short-term courses need of the hour : says One World One Family Mission Founder Madhusudan Sai
Hyderabad, Sept 25 (TNT): Skill-based short-term courses are the need of the hour and will soon be introduced across educational institutions run by the One World One Family Mission, its founder Sadguru Madhusudan Sai said on Friday.
He was responding to questions from noted Tollywood producer, Ramanaidu Studios Chairman and Suresh Productions Managing Director Daggubati Suresh Babu during the ‘Compassion in Action’ event held here.
Madhusudan Sai stressed the need for reforms in the education sector to bridge the gap between the existing education system and industry requirements.
“In many advanced countries, including the US, students are no longer coming forward for long-term courses. In India, there is a significant gap between what students learn in colleges and what the industry actually needs. We must take all these factors into account and bring about necessary reforms in education,” he said.
He cautioned educational institutions against becoming commercial hubs and stressed the importance of value and moral education in schools.
Referring to criticism of the Gen-Z generation, Madhusudan Sai said the younger generation learned faster and was smarter, while also calling upon young people to consciously slow down the pace of their lives.
He also spoke about healthcare initiatives at the Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Muddenahalli, Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka, saying research was underway in precision medicine, targeted medicine and genomics.
He said an integrated treatment method combining four approaches focused on wellness and longevity had been developed and that efforts were underway to secure a patent for it.
The event also featured a testimony by Bhavana, a Class 10 student of Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam at Kondapaka in Siddipet (Telangana), who spoke about the hardships she had faced during her childhood and the support she received from Madhusudan Sai in pursuing her aspirations.
Earlier, Rajesh K S, Head of Operations at Lloyds Technology Centre, urged corporate leaders to visit rural areas to understand ground realities and develop practical solutions.
Sowmya, Trust Officer of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Group of Hospitals, hosted the programme.
The event concluded with a performance by the Sai Symphony Orchestra, comprising students from Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence and Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam. The ensemble was recognised by the Guinness World Records in 2025 as India’s largest student symphony orchestra.
Free education for girls
The Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam Junior College for Women at Kondapaka, Siddipet (Telangana), provides free, values-based integral education, including boarding and other essential facilities.
The institution has educated more than 1,000 students, with 151 currently enrolled. According to the organisers, 69.7 per cent of its students come from Below Poverty Line families, 42.7 per cent from rural backgrounds and 25.8 per cent are first-generation learners.
The institution has also produced nine undergraduate and four postgraduate gold medallists.
Free cardiac care for children
The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Heart Care and Research at Kondapaka has provided free treatment to children with congenital heart defects.
Since its inception in September 2024 and up to September 16, 2026, the centre has performed treatment on 581 children, according to the organisers.
Nutrition initiative
The One World One Family Mission is also providing ‘Sai Sure Malt’, a nutritional drink, free of cost to one crore children every day, according to the organisation.
More than 16 lakh beneficiaries are students from government schools in Telangana, with the programme being implemented across all government schools in the state since 2022.
