Quantum Technologies to Bring Revolutionary Changes in Future: JNTUK VC
Kakinada, July 31 (TNT): Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) Vice-Chancellor Prof. C.S.R.K. Prasad on Friday said quantum technologies would bring revolutionary changes in the fields of science, technology and engineering in the years ahead.
Presiding over a special interactive session organised by JNTUK to create awareness on research funding opportunities available under the National Quantum Mission (NQM) and the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Prof. Prasad urged faculty members to prioritise interdisciplinary research and work towards establishing dedicated quantum research centres.
He called upon researchers to make optimum use of the financial assistance being extended by the DST through the National Quantum Mission for advanced research in emerging quantum technologies.
National Quantum Mission Director Dr. J.V.B. Reddy, who was the chief guest, outlined the objectives of the National Quantum Mission and its roadmap in the areas of quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum sensing and quantum materials.
He highlighted research opportunities available for higher educational institutions, explained the process of formulating research proposals and detailed the funding support available at the national level for quantum technology projects.
Andhra Pradesh State Quantum Mission Director C.V. Sridhar, the guest of honour, explained the initiatives being undertaken by the state government to build a robust quantum technology ecosystem through collaboration among universities, research institutions, start-ups and industries.
He urged faculty members to actively participate in state-level quantum initiatives and submit research proposals to avail themselves of funding opportunities.
The two experts also briefed participants on DST-supported research programmes, faculty development initiatives, establishment of quantum research centres and collaborative research funding before interacting with teachers on research project formulation, infrastructure requirements and academic programmes in quantum technology.
Principals of affiliated colleges, heads of departments and faculty members working in the field of quantum technology shared details of the initiatives being undertaken at their respective institutions.
JNTUK Academic Director and Centre of Excellence in Quantum Science and Technology (CoE-QST) Coordinator Prof. M.H.M. Krishna Prasad coordinated the programme.
