PM Modi to Visit West Bengal, Launch Projects and Lead Yoga Day Celebrations

New Delhi, June 19 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit West Bengal on June 20 and 21 to participate in Paschimbanga Divas celebrations, launch and inaugurate development projects, release the latest instalment of PM-KISAN and lead the national observance of the International Day of Yoga.

At Tarakeswar in Hooghly district on June 20, the Prime Minister will inaugurate, dedicate and lay foundation stones for projects related to railways, agriculture, fisheries, animal husbandry and rural development.

He will also release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), under which over Rs 18,880 crore will be transferred to more than 9.44 crore farmers across the country.

In West Bengal, over 45 lakh farmers will receive more than Rs 900 crore under the scheme.

Modi will launch the implementation of key agricultural initiatives in the State, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, AgriStack under the Digital Agriculture Mission, the National Mission on Natural Farming and the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the modernised fishing harbour at Fraserganj in South 24 Parganas district, a modern fish market at Sainthia in Birbhum district and a regional semen production laboratory and semen bank for goats at Haringhata in Nadia district.

He will dedicate to the nation and lay foundation stones for railway projects worth around Rs 590 crore, including the Sankrail-Santragachi Link Line project in Howrah district, a new divisional railway hospital at Howrah and a road overbridge in Purba Medinipur district.

In addition, Modi will inaugurate 49 road projects developed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana covering more than 315 kilometres across various districts of the State.

On June 21, the Prime Minister will lead the national observance of the 12th International Day of Yoga at Kolkata’s Red Road and participate in the Common Yoga Protocol session.

Later, he will commission three indigenously designed and built naval ships — INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray — at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata.

The three vessels, built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers, are expected to strengthen the Navy’s operational capabilities, maritime surveillance and coastal security.

Officials said the visit reflects the Centre’s focus on infrastructure development, agricultural growth, rural connectivity and defence self-reliance.
