PM Modi Calls for Swadeshi Push, Reduced Imports and Energy Conservation at Hyderabad Rally

Hyderabad, May 10 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called upon citizens to reduce dependence on imports, conserve foreign exchange and strengthen the “Swadeshi” movement by increasingly adopting Made-in-India products.

Addressing a massive public meeting at the Parade Ground, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged people to reduce the use of petrol, diesel and cooking gas in the national interest by increasingly utilising public transport, electric vehicles and Metro rail services.

Addressing a massive public meeting at the Parade Ground, the Prime Minister urged people to reduce the use of petrol, diesel and cooking gas in the national interest by utilizing public transport and EVs.

Recalling the spirit of sacrifice shown by citizens in earlier decades, Modi said that while people had once donated gold for the country, there was no such need now.

However, he appealed to families to avoid purchasing gold for one year during weddings and celebrations as a contribution towards conserving foreign exchange.

Emphasising economic responsibility, Modi said reducing imports and saving valuable foreign currency should be treated as a national mission.

He also cautioned people against misinformation and conspiracies that could harm national interests and called for vigilance during challenging times.

The Prime Minister urged institutions, including the judiciary, to support solutions that prioritise national welfare.

Referring to India’s large edible oil import bill, Modi appealed to families to reduce cooking oil consumption by at least 10 per cent.

“Even such a small effort would become a major act of patriotism,” he said.

Highlighting sustainable agriculture, the Prime Minister encouraged farmers to adopt natural farming methods and reduce excessive use of fertilisers, saying such measures would help conserve foreign exchange while protecting agricultural land and the environment.

He also referred to the Centre’s efforts to replace diesel-powered agricultural pumps with solar-powered pumps to promote sustainability and energy independence.

Reiterating the “Local for Local” call he had given during the COVID-19 period, Modi urged citizens to support domestic industries by purchasing Indian-made products.

Clarifying his remarks, the Prime Minister said people need not discard foreign-made products already purchased, but should gradually shift towards indigenous alternatives instead of buying new imported goods.

He urged citizens to prepare a list of daily-use items in their homes and identify foreign products being unknowingly used, such as combs, scissors, toothbrushes and other essentials, and replace them with Indian-made products wherever possible.

“This is not a political issue and not limited to any one party. It is a national cause,” Modi said, calling upon citizens, organisations, institutions and political parties to participate collectively in the effort.

The Prime Minister also appealed to the media to spread awareness and inspire patriotism among the people.

Expressing confidence in the country’s future, Modi said India would overcome global challenges and emerge stronger through unity, awareness and collective effort.
