Plastics Industry Seeks Dedicated Plastics Park, Recycling Cluster in Telangana, AP

Hyderabad, Aug. 7 (TNT): The All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA) on Friday urged the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to establish a dedicated Plastics Park with world-class infrastructure to facilitate setting up of manufacturing units by MSMEs.

Addressing the inaugural session of HIPLEX 2026, South and Central India’s largest plastics exhibition and the country’s third-largest plastics expo, AIPMA Senior Vice-President Anil Reddy Vennam also sought allocation of 250 acres for a Recycling Cluster equipped with a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP).

He called for greater investments in infrastructure, water management, packaging and medical plastics, with the objective of increasing plastics consumption in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to two million tonnes by 2030 and raising the two States’ combined share in the national market to over eight per cent.

Vennam said HIPLEX 2026 has been provided with a dedicated 2 MW power supply to facilitate live demonstrations of advanced processing machinery, recycling systems, bio-polymers and next-generation polymer technologies.

The four-day exhibition, organised by the Telangana and Andhra Plastics Manufacturers Association (TAAPMA), was inaugurated by Telangana Information Technology and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at the HITEX Exhibition Centre.

The expo features over 550 exhibitors, including companies from China, and is expected to attract more than 55,000 business visitors from India and abroad.

TAAPMA President Narendra Baldwa said the 55-year-old association, representing more than 1,000 members, has consistently promoted technology adoption, innovation and sustainability in the plastics sector.

HIPLEX 2026 Convener Meela Jayadev said plastics have become an integral part of modern life and stressed the need for responsible production, use and recycling. He noted that India’s per capita plastic consumption is about 7 kg, compared with 24 kg in China, indicating significant growth potential for the domestic industry.

A major attraction at the exhibition is the Dedicated Recycling Pavilion, where visitors can see discarded plastics being transformed into value-added products such as roads, railway sleepers, furniture, construction materials and garments.

The expo also features live machinery demonstrations, technical conferences, knowledge sessions and business networking events focusing on recycling technologies, sustainability, automation and future manufacturing trends.
