Over 51 Lakh Devotees Avail TTD’s Free Luggage Deposit Services During Summer Rush
Tirumala, June 16 (TNT): To enhance the convenience of devotees visiting Tirumala and ensure the safety of their belongings, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has strengthened its luggage deposit-and-delivery system with extensive infrastructure and technology-enabled services across Tirumala and the footpath routes.
TTD currently operates 66 dedicated luggage counters staffed by 345 personnel working in three shifts to provide uninterrupted services to pilgrims.
The facilities allow devotees to safely deposit luggage, bags and mobile phones while undertaking darshan or trekking to Tirumala through the footpaths.
According to TTD, a record 51,38,976 devotees availed the free luggage deposit services during April and May 2026.
In April 2026, a total of 23,15,279 devotees used the service compared to 20,75,481 in April 2025, registering an increase of 2,39,798.
In May 2026, the number rose to 28,23,697 from 23,82,622 in the corresponding month last year, an increase of 4,41,075.
TTD said that following the heavy influx of pilgrims during the recent weekend, as many as 3,41,742 devotees utilized the luggage deposit facilities during the last three days alone.
Special facilities have been established for pilgrims using the footpath routes.
The Alipiri Luggage Centre operates five counters with 45 staff members and has a capacity of 10,194 deposits, while the Srivari Mettu Centre has two counters with 10 staff members and a capacity of 3,025 deposits.
Luggage deposited at these centres can be collected at designated delivery points in Tirumala, enabling pilgrims to travel hands-free during their trek.
Within Tirumala, luggage and mobile phone deposit facilities are available at multiple locations, including the Free Hall, Vaikuntham Queue Complex, Narayanagiri Sheds, DD Hall, Rs.300 Special Entry Darshan Complex and other key pilgrim centres.
Special deposit and delivery counters have also been established near Kalyanakatta, Supatham, Senior Citizens and Divyangjan facilities, and at the Srivani Trust entry point to cater to different categories of devotees.
TTD said it has introduced facial-recognition-assisted QR code technology to streamline the process. A QR-coded sticker is affixed to each deposited item and devotees are issued a receipt containing luggage details. Upon presentation of the receipt at the delivery point, staff can retrieve and return the luggage, usually within a minute, using the reference number.
The temple administration urged devotees to use only the official TTD luggage counters for depositing bags, luggage and mobile phones and to preserve the receipt or token until collection.
TTD reiterated that all luggage deposit and delivery services are being provided free of cost to ensure the safety, convenience and comfort of millions of devotees visiting Tirumala every year.
