New Delhi: CBSE Opens Interactive Experience Centre to Promote Practical Learning Among Students

New Delhi, Oct 27 (TNT): The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Tuesday inaugurated an interactive Experience Centre at its headquarters in Dwarka here to promote hands-on learning, scientific curiosity and career awareness among students.

Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the centre, which houses 21 exhibits across 12 zones spread over 6,000 square feet, offering interactive experiences on the evolution of education, emerging technologies, scientific concepts and future career opportunities.

Addressing the gathering, Joshi stressed the need to move away from rote learning and excessive emphasis on examination scores, calling for an education system that recognises students’ individual interests, abilities and learning capacities.

He said the centre reflected the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasises experiential and holistic learning.

Students should be encouraged to observe, experiment and apply scientific concepts through practical experiences, he said.

The Union Minister said 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs were already operational across the country and the government had decided to establish another 50,000 labs to encourage innovation and scientific temper among students.

The centre traces the evolution of Indian education from the ancient gurukul system and historic learning centres such as Nalanda to modern schools and digital classrooms. It also features archival photographs documenting the development of the CBSE.

Interactive exhibits on career exploration and future professions aim to familiarise students with emerging employment opportunities.

The centre also features holographic representations of Dr B R Ambedkar and Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, besides a dedicated kiosk based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book Exam Warriors, focusing on examination-related stress management and confidence-building.

The centre uses RFID-enabled smart cards to facilitate interaction with exhibits, participation in activities and access to personalised takeaways and game-based leaderboards.

Its concluding experience, Eduverse, takes visitors through natural landscapes and celestial environments using motion-based interaction and multisensory elements, highlighting the interconnectedness of natural systems.

Joshi expressed confidence that the initiative would make school education more engaging and student-centred, while preparing young people for emerging opportunities in technology, manufacturing and innovation.
