Modi Transformed India into Global Leader Since 2014: Telangana BJP Chief
Hyderabad, Aug. 4(TNT): Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao has said India has emerged as a global leader and undergone a transformational change since Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister in 2014.
Addressing a gathering of Telugu-speaking NRIs during a ‘Meet and Greet’ programme in New Jersey, USA, as part of his visit to the United States, Rao said India has progressed from being dependent on imports to becoming a nation extending financial assistance to several countries.
He said India, which once relied on imports of wheat and milk powder under the PL-480 programme, had demonstrated its capabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic by developing the indigenous Covaxin vaccine, administering it free of cost to 1.4 billion citizens and supplying vaccines to countries across the world.
Launching an attack on the Congress, Rao alleged that during the UPA-I and UPA-II governments, corruption had become rampant and cited the 2G spectrum, Commonwealth Games and coal allocation scams as examples.
He further alleged that the Congress leadership had promoted dynastic politics while neglecting leaders such as former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Highlighting the NDA government’s achievements, Rao said the number of airports in the country had increased from 75 before 2014 to around 150, citing the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport in Andhra Pradesh as an example of infrastructure development.
He said initiatives such as Startup India and Make in India had boosted confidence among the youth, while India’s growing capabilities in the space sector and road infrastructure reflected the country’s rapid development.
Rao also said India had transformed from a defence equipment importer into an exporter of indigenous defence products, adding that domestically manufactured equipment had played an important role in recent military operations.
Stressing the importance of national unity, the BJP leader said political parties may have differences in a democracy, but national security and territorial integrity should remain above politics.
He urged political parties to adopt the principle of “Nation First” and place national interests above partisan considerations.
The Telangana BJP chief also extended greetings to people from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other parts of the country who attended the event.
