Maj Gen G Srinivas Assumes Charge as GOC, Telangana & Andhra Sub Area
Hyderabad, July 1 (TNT): Major General G. Srinivas, VSM, on Wednesday assumed charge as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana & Andhra Sub Area (TASA).
On assuming command, the General Officer paid homage to the nation’s fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the War Memorial in a solemn ceremony, a defence release said here.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Major General Srinivas completed his schooling at Sainik School, Korukonda, and was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery in 1990.
A graduate of the National Defence College, he holds M.Phil degrees in Defence and Security Studies and Management Studies.
During his 35-year military career, he has held several key command, staff and instructional appointments, including service with the United Nations Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, postings in the Military Secretary’s Branch, command of an artillery brigade in a strike formation, Brigadier Quartermaster of a Corps, and Chief Instructor at the School of Artillery.
As Major General (Operational Logistics) on the Western Front, he played a key role in maintaining operational readiness during Operation Sindoor.
Prior to his present appointment, he served as Commandant of the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad, where he supervised the conduct of the Higher Defence Management Course.
As GOC, Telangana & Andhra Sub Area, Major General Srinivas will serve as the Local Military Authority for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, overseeing military administration, infrastructure development, veterans’ welfare and civil-military coordination in the two States.
