Hyderabad, Apr 13 (TNT) : Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said sweeping reforms in the mining sector are accelerating mineral production and unlocking India’s vast resource potential.
Addressing a roadshow on the 7th tranche of Critical and Strategic Mineral Blocks and the 2nd tranche of Exploration Licence (EL) Blocks at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) here, Kishan Reddy said policy reforms, transparent auction mechanisms and improved ease of doing business are driving growth and attracting investments.
He said the latest tranche offers 19 critical and strategic mineral blocks across 10 states, including tungsten, lithium, tin and rock phosphate, along with 11 exploration licence blocks spread across eight states, which will play a key role in strengthening domestic supply chains.
Highlighting the global significance of critical minerals, he said they have become central to geopolitics, climate action and economic security, and will play a pivotal role in achieving the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
He added that the Centre is taking steps to make the sector self-reliant and reduce import dependence.
Telangana Mines Minister Gaddam Vivekaanand said critical minerals are emerging as a strategic asset for India’s economic growth and global competitiveness, and stressed the need to accelerate exploration in a domain currently dominated by countries like China.
Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Piyush Goyal said the government is ensuring transparency and timely operationalisation of mineral blocks to strengthen the mining ecosystem.
The roadshow featured presentations on mineral potential, auction frameworks and policy reforms, along with an interactive session with stakeholders. It witnessed participation from senior officials, industry leaders, exploration agencies and prospective bidders, and is expected to generate strong interest in upcoming auctions.
