Kakinada: Rise against Ganja: SP sensitises youth against drugs

Kakinada, Sept 1 (TNT): The Kakinada district police conducted an anti-drug awareness programme titled ‘Rise Against Ganja’ at the District Police Office premises here on Tuesday.

District Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav administered an oath to students, youth and members of the public, urging them to work towards making Kakinada district a ganja-free district.

Speaking on the occasion, the SP said ganja consumption was destroying the future of youth and adversely affecting families and society.

He called upon people to cooperate with the police and actively participate in efforts to curb the use, sale and transportation of ganja and other narcotic substances.

Later, the SP released a poster carrying the slogans ‘Rise Against Ganja’, ‘Give Information – Save the Society’ and ‘Ganja-Free Society – Everyone’s Responsibility’.

He urged the public to provide information about the sale and transportation of ganja and other narcotic substances to the police. He assured that the identity of informants would be kept confidential and said those providing information would be duly rewarded with cash prizes.

The SP asked people to dial 1972 to provide information on ganja-related activities, 112 for emergency police services and the Kakinada Police WhatsApp number 9494933233.

Additional SP (Administration) Dr Mahanti Kishore Kumar, Port Station Inspector P Sunilkumar,  SB SI Sobhan Kumar, police personnel and more than 1,200 students from various colleges participated in the awareness programme.
