Kakinada Collector Inspects Rain-Hit Areas, Orders Drainage Measures and Medical Camp
Kakinada, Sept 28 (TNT): District Collector M N Harendhira Prasad on Monday inspected rain-affected low-lying areas in Kakinada city and directed municipal officials to expedite water clearance, restore traffic movement and provide medical assistance to people sheltered in relief camps.
Accompanied by Municipal Commissioner Satyanarayana, the Collector visited inundated areas in wards 43, 48 and 49, including Madhuranagar, Ashok Nagar, Janachaithanya Nagar and Treasury Colony.
As traffic movement remained disrupted in Madhuranagar and Ashok Nagar due to waterlogging, he instructed the Municipal Commissioner to take immediate steps to drain the stagnant water, deploying motors if necessary.
In Janachaithanya Nagar, the Collector directed officials to clear water hyacinth obstructing the Gaderu canal in ward 48 to facilitate the flow of water.
The Collector and municipal officials also inspected the relief camp at Treasury Colony and expressed satisfaction with the quality of food being provided to those taking shelter there.
He directed the Municipal Commissioner and the Health Officer to organise a special medical camp to examine the health of the evacuees.
During the inspection, the Collector noticed houses constructed along the road in violation of municipal planning rules and instructed the Municipal Commissioner to issue notices to the owners concerned.
