IRTS Officer Balaji Kiran takes Addl Charge as CPRO of Newly Created SCoR Zone in Vizag
Visakhapatnam, May 30 (TNT): Y. Balaji Kiran, an Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer of the 2013 batch, on Saturday assumed additional charge as Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of the newly created South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone.
The South Coast Railway, which becomes the country’s 18th Railway Zone, is scheduled to commence full-fledged operations from June 1, 2026, with its headquarters in Visakhapatnam.
Apart from his new assignment, Balaji Kiran has been serving as Deputy General Manager-cum-Secretary to the General Manager of South Coast Railway since November 2025.
A seasoned railway officer with extensive experience in traffic and commercial operations, he has held several key positions in Indian Railways, including Senior Divisional Operations Manager of Guntakal Division and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager in Secunderabad and Hyderabad divisions.
Balaji Kiran holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Science Engineering from Sri Kalahasteeswara Institute of Technology (SKIT), Srikalahasti.
He also earned an MBA from Osmania University and Master’s degrees in Political Science and Industrial Relations.
A native of Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh, he is known for his contributions to social service and youth development.
He founded the NGO “Asaya” and has been actively involved in community welfare initiatives.
Before joining the Civil Services, he worked as a software engineer in Singapore and later served as Director of Sri Chaitanya IAS Academy in New Delhi, mentoring several Civil Services aspirants.
Railway officials expressed confidence that his administrative experience, professional expertise and communication skills would help strengthen public outreach and media relations for the newly operational South Coast Railway Zone.
