IRISET signs MoUs with Hyderabad’s two engineering colleges to introduce KAVACH in B.Tech curriculum

Hyderabad, July 15 (TNT): The Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET), Secunderabad, on Wednesday signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with two Hyderabad-based engineering colleges to introduce Railway Signalling and the Automatic Train Protection System (KAVACH) as part of their B.Tech curriculum.

The MoUs were signed with St. Peter’s Engineering College (SPEC) and KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology (KGRCET) to equip engineering students with skills in modern railway signalling and KAVACH, the indigenous train collision avoidance system developed by Indian Railways, the institute said in a release here.

The initiative is part of the Ministry of Railways’ capacity and capability-building mission aimed at preparing industry-ready professionals in railway signalling technologies.

The agreements were signed by T. Ramesh Babu, Senior Professor (Signal-2 & KAVACH), IRISET, with Dr. K. Prasanna Kumar, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, St. Peter’s Engineering College, and Dr S. Sai Satyanarayana Reddy, Principal of KG Reddy College of Engineering and Technology.

IRISET said the initiative has been taken under the guidance of its Additional Director General Lokesh Vishnoi to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and build a skilled workforce for the railways’ modern signalling ecosystem.
