International Bus Terminal to Come Up on 100 Acres at Gajularamaram: Telangana CM

Hyderabad, June 8 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday announced that construction of an international bus terminal spread over 100 acres at Gajularamaram on the city outskirts will begin within the next three months.

The Chief Minister made the announcement while addressing a public meeting after laying foundation stones for developmental works worth ₹1,674 crore, including projects related to the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation.

Reaffirming his government’s focus on development, Revanth Reddy said the administration would concentrate on accelerating infrastructure growth in Hyderabad and across Telangana over the next 24 months, rising above political considerations.

“Let us develop our city rising above political agendas,” he said.

The Chief Minister observed that major metropolitan cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad are driving the country’s economic growth, but each faces unique urban challenges.

He noted that Delhi is grappling with pollution, Mumbai with flooding, and Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata with traffic congestion.

Given Hyderabad’s rapid expansion, the government has reorganized the city’s administrative structure by creating three municipal corporations to ensure systematic development and better coordination between civic and police authorities, he said.

“We created three corporations to cater to the future needs of the expanding city and defined boundaries to ensure coordination between the police and municipal departments,” he added.

Emphasising the need for planned urban growth, Revanth Reddy said merely claiming Hyderabad to be a global city is not enough and that infrastructure development must match that vision.

Under the government’s master plan, the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project is being taken up, while one lakh houses are proposed for Low-Income Group (LIG) and Middle-Income Group (MIG) families within city limits.

The Chief Minister said the housing initiative would follow the model of the earlier Rajiv Gruhakalpa scheme, enabling beneficiaries to receive homes at or near their existing places of residence.

He also said the government is preparing plans to reclaim encroached government lands and utilize them for housing projects aimed at economically weaker sections.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government’s priority is to build modern infrastructure, improve urban mobility and ensure affordable housing as part of Hyderabad’s transformation into a globally competitive city.
