India to host second BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting in Hyderabad
New Delhi, Aug 3 (TNT): The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) will host the Second Meeting of the BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) and the Second Meeting of the BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery in Hyderabad on August 4 and 5 under India’s BRICS Presidency 2026.
The meeting, being organised under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” will be inaugurated by DoPT Secretary Rachna Shah and attended by delegates from BRICS member countries, including senior policymakers, experts and representatives of anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies.
The Hyderabad meeting follows the first BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting, held virtually on June 2 and 3 this year, and will focus on strengthening international cooperation in asset recovery, combating cross-border corruption, and promoting transparency and accountability in governance.
Delegates are expected to deliberate on enhancing informal cooperation for tracing fugitive offenders in corruption cases and supporting extradition proceedings, improving information sharing through the BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery, and exchanging best practices in addressing corruption risks arising from FinTech, digital assets and emerging financial technologies.
A side event titled “Ethical Governance through Innovation and Tech-Driven Systems” will also be held on August 5 to facilitate discussions on technology-enabled governance, digital public procurement, citizen engagement, transparency, accountability and innovative approaches to strengthening integrity in public administration.
The government said the meeting would reaffirm India’s commitment to promoting practical cooperation among BRICS countries through dialogue, exchange of experiences and collaborative initiatives, while consolidating progress made during its BRICS Presidency in areas such as asset recovery, prevention of cross-border corruption, technology-driven governance and institutional capacity building.
