Hyderabad to Host First Business Convergence of Wedding, Film Industries at WV Connect
Hyderabad, Aug 8 (TNT) : India’s wedding and film industries will come together on a common business platform with WV Connect Season 4, Asia’s largest B2B wedding summit, to be held in Hyderabad from September 1 to 3.
The three-day summit, themed “Weddings & Films,” is expected to draw more than 800 delegates from over 20 cities, including wedding planners, filmmakers, production designers, event companies, luxury hospitality brands, destination wedding specialists, photographers, decorators, cinematographers, choreographers, venue operators and technology providers.
In a release, the organisers said the summit would seek to create business and collaboration opportunities between India’s wedding and film industries, which increasingly share creative talent, production expertise and technology.
The countdown to the summit began with a ceremonial flag-off at Arth Resorts by Kishore Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director, Arth Resorts, in the presence of Ruchi Pant, Chief Business Officer, Ramoji Film City; Shwetha Sabu Cyril, art director and production designer; and Photriya Venky, celebrity and wedding photographer, besides industry representatives and media personnel.
The organisers said the two industries were increasingly converging, with luxury weddings adopting cinematic production design, elaborate lighting, choreography, cinematography and visual storytelling.
They said film professionals such as production designers, art directors, lighting technicians, cinematographers, choreographers, costume designers, drone operators and digital creators already work across both sectors.
The summit will explore opportunities for film professionals to expand into the wedding sector and for wedding planners to adopt filmmaking techniques, including immersive storytelling, virtual production, projection mapping and AI-powered guest experiences.
Film studios and shooting locations could also emerge as wedding destinations, while professionals in lighting, sound, camera, drone and VFX could gain additional opportunities beyond film production, the organisers said.
The convergence is also expected to benefit hospitality, tourism, technology companies and MSMEs involved in fabrication, décor, floristry, lighting, costumes, printing, logistics and event management.
The organisers said greater collaboration between the two sectors could support employment for creative professionals and contribute to destination wedding tourism, benefiting hotels, transport, shopping and other hospitality-related businesses.
The summit will feature keynote addresses, WedX Talks, curated B2B meetings, speed networking sessions, knowledge forums, experiential showcases and the WV Awards 2026, recognising excellence in India’s wedding industry.
Participants will include representatives from luxury hotels, destination management companies, tourism boards, film studios, event management companies, designers, photographers, production houses and wedding businesses.
Hyderabad was chosen to host the summit due to its growing luxury wedding market and its position as one of India’s major film production centres, the organisers said.
The WV Connect Advisory Board includes Sabu Cyril, internationally acclaimed production designer; Kumar Raja, Founder of Design by Raja and Strategic Alliance Partner; Ruchi Pant, Chief Business Officer, Ramoji Film City; Aditya Motwane; Gitika Ganju Dhar; Amit Sarin of Black Rock Hotels; and Sumit Ghosh of Arth Resorts.
