Hyd: Young India Sports University signs MoU with Korea National Sport University
Hyderabad, Aug 26 (TNT): The Young India Physical Education & Sports University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korea National Sport University (KNSU), one of the world’s leading institutions for high-performance sports, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on Wednesday.
In a post on ‘X’ platform, the Chief Minister said the partnership would serve as a bridge between Telangana’s sporting talent and global best practices in athlete training, sports science and high-performance education.
Reddy recalled that during his previous visit to South Korea, he had met a top delegation of KNSU, including its president Moon Won-Jae, and held discussions on a partnership between KNSU and the proposed Young India Sports University.
He said the partnership was “more than an MoU” and would help bring global sporting practices to Telangana.
KNSU-trained athletes contributed 16 of South Korea’s 32 medals at the Paris Olympics, he said, adding that Telangana sought to bring a similar culture of excellence to the state.
The Chief Minister appreciated Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari, officials of the Sports Ministry and YIPESU for driving the initiative and opening new avenues for young athletes to learn from global sporting excellence.
As India looks towards the 2036 Olympics, Telangana is determined to prepare not only to host the event but also to produce athletes capable of making the country proud, Reddy said.
“From our villages and towns to the Olympic podium – Telangana is preparing for the journey,” he said.
