Hyderabad, Apr 26 (TNT) : Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Relief Foundation Trust (BMJRFT) has replaced 129 dialysis machines worth ₹12 crore with donor support, reinforcing its commitment to providing affordable healthcare.
The Trust continues to offer dialysis at just ₹300 per session, significantly lower than ₹2,500–₹5,000 charged by corporate hospitals, easing the financial burden on patients while maintaining quality care.
In a release on Sunday, the Trust said dialysis machines typically last for around 20,000 sessions or 5–7 years, but BMJRFT has extended their usage to 30,000–35,000 sessions through efficient maintenance.
The funds required for replacement were mobilised within a week, reflecting strong donor confidence in the Trust.
To acknowledge the contributions, a felicitation ceremony was held at Marvel Imperial Garden in Secunderabad, attended by Praveen Kumar, Executive Director of NMDC Limited and Kasareni Damayanthi (Retd. IAS).
Among major contributors, NMDC donated 40 machines worth ₹3.5 crore under its CSR initiative. Philanthropist Shivprakash Bansal contributed 16 machines and pledged ₹50 lakh annually towards working capital.
Other donors included Pokarna Engineered Stone Ltd, PL Raju Construction, Sirisha Projects Pvt Ltd, and several individual contributors.
Trust Chairman P. C. Parakh, former IAS officer, said the initiative reflects the confidence of donors in BMJRFT’s work.
He noted that the Trust has helped save an estimated ₹200 crore in dialysis costs and ₹100 crore in medicines for patients over the years.
Currently, BMJRFT conducts around 600 dialysis sessions daily and about 15,000 per month across 11 centres.
The Trust has completed over 18 lakh dialysis sessions in the past 17 years and is expected to cross 20 lakh sessions by next year.
