Hyd: Aditya Birla Capital enters gold loan business, opens brahnch in Shamshabad
The company’s non-banking financial company (NBFC) business will offer gold-backed credit through a branch-led service model supported by digital channels, with a focus on transparent pricing, secure handling of pledged jewellery and convenient access to loans.
The expansion comes amid growing demand for organised gold lending in Telangana, the company said in a release on Sunday.
According to CRIF High Mark’s How India Lends Report, the state’s outstanding gold loan portfolio stood at Rs 1.61 lakh crore as of March 2026, registering year-on-year growth of 70.5 per cent.
The company said Shamshabad’s proximity to Hyderabad, connectivity, the presence of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and growing industrial activity made it a strategic location for the initial rollout.
Speaking on the launch, Rakesh Singh, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer–NBFC, Aditya Birla Capital Limited, said the entry into gold lending was an important step towards expanding access to secured financing solutions.
Shamshabad offered significant growth potential due to its connectivity and increasing economic activity, he said, adding that the company aimed to make gold loans more accessible through transparent and seamless services across physical and digital channels.
The gold loan offering will cater to customers across urban and semi-urban markets, further diversifying the company’s financial services portfolio.
Aditya Birla Capital and its subsidiaries and joint ventures operate through a nationwide network of more than 1,759 branches. Their consolidated lending book exceeded Rs 2.19 lakh crore as of June 30, 2026, the company said.
