Healthy Society is Foundation of a Strong Nation: Telangana Guv Shiv Pratap Shukla
Hyderabad, May 23 (TNT):Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Saturday said that a healthy society forms the foundation of a strong nation and observed that the Union Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is according top priority to strengthening the healthcare sector across the country.
Addressing the gathering after felicitating doctors who rendered distinguished service in the healthcare sector at the Healthcare Excellence Awards function organised by Zee Telugu News in Hyderabad, Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla noted that India has made remarkable progress in healthcare services, medical research and innovation, adding that Telangana, particularly Hyderabad, has emerged as a major hub for world-class hospitals, advanced medical technologies and pharmaceutical industries.
Referring to the Indian ethos of “Vaidyo Narayano Harihi”, Shiv Pratap Shukla said doctors, nurses and healthcare workers not only treat illnesses but also instil hope and confidence among people.
Shiv Pratap said flagship initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, establishment of new AIIMS institutions, medical colleges and the Digital Health Mission are further strengthening the country’s healthcare infrastructure.
The Governor also called upon citizens to support the Centre’s Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
Recalling Hyderabad’s role during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said the development of Covaxin reflected India’s scientific capabilities and commitment to self-reliance.
He urged young doctors to uphold compassion, ethics and humanity along with professional excellence in their medical careers.
Appreciating the role of the media in creating public awareness, the Governor commended Zee Telugu News for recognising doctors who have made notable contributions to healthcare.
MLA Dr M. Sanjay Kumar, Malla Reddy University Vice-Chairperson Dr C.H. Preeti Reddy, Zee Telugu News Chief Editor Bharat Kumar and others were present at the event.
