Hamsa Vahanam procession marks second day of Appalayagunta Brahmotsavams

Tirupati, June 26 (TNT): The second day of the annual Brahmotsavams at the Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Appalayagunta, was celebrated with religious fervour on Friday as the presiding deity, adorned as Goddess Saraswati, gave darshan to devotees on the Hamsa Vahanam.

Amid Vedic chanting, bhajans, traditional kolatam and continuous chanting of “Govinda” namasmarana, the deity was taken in a grand procession, drawing a large number of devotees.

Holding the Veena, the Lord symbolised wisdom, knowledge and purity. The Hamsa (swan), the vehicle of Goddess Saraswati, signifies the ability to distinguish good from evil, conveying the message that the Lord resides in the hearts of devotees who possess purity of mind and noble thoughts.

According to the temple schedule, on the third day of the Brahmotsavams on Saturday, the Lord will bless devotees on Simha Vahanam at 8 a.m. and Mutyapu Pandiri Vahanam at 7 p.m.
