GM congratulates SCR employee on doctorate from Osmania University

Hyderabad, Sept 11 (TNT): South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Friday congratulated T D Satyavani, Chief Office Superintendent in the office of Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, on being conferred a doctorate in Sociology by Osmania University.

Satyavani was awarded the doctorate during the university’s 85th Convocation.

Srivastava congratulated her on the achievement at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad on Friday.

Satyavani holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and an M.Sc. in Applied Psychology. She completed her doctoral research on “Working Women: Life World, Life Style and Life Satisfaction – A Study of Working Women in South Central Railway” under the supervision of Prof Dr N V Madhuri, Professor of Anthropology, University of Hyderabad.

The study examined the experiences, lifestyle, work environment, aspirations and life satisfaction of women employees working in different categories of South Central Railway. It covered 369 women employees across the railway organisation.

One of the significant findings was that 86.94 per cent of the women respondents expressed satisfaction with working in the Railways and its policies, according to SCR.

Srivastava appreciated Satyavani for successfully completing her doctoral research and achieving the academic distinction.

He said her achievement would inspire other railway employees to pursue higher education and enhance their knowledge and skills.

He also expressed confidence that her research and expertise would be beneficial to the day-to-day functioning of the Railways.
