GITAM VDC to organise Young Entrepreneurs Programme for school students
Visakhapatnam, May 13 (TNT): The Venture Development Centre (VDC) at GITAM Deemed to be University will organise the “Young Entrepreneurs Programme” (YEP), a three-day in-person startup bootcamp for school students studying in Classes 8 to 12.
The programme aims to nurture entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, leadership and problem-solving skills among students through experiential and activity-based learning.
Each participant will be required to pay a registration fee of Rs.6,000 plus GST, the University said in a release here on Wednesday.
The bootcamp is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship by helping them identify opportunities, develop innovative ideas and pitch solutions like startup founders.
Unlike conventional classroom learning, the programme will follow a team-based and highly interactive format focused on practical experience.
Entrepreneurial skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, resilience and innovation have become increasingly important in today’s rapidly evolving world and the programme seeks to equip students with these abilities at an early stage.
The three-day bootcamp will cover topics including entrepreneurial mindset, opportunity identification, design thinking, business models, customer understanding, startup idea development, storytelling, presentation skills and pitching techniques.
On the first day, students will participate in sessions on entrepreneurial mindset, identifying real-world problems, design thinking, team formation and idea brainstorming under the theme “Think Like a Founder”.
The second day, titled “Build Your Idea”, will focus on business models, customer needs, refining startup ideas and developing a startup canvas.
On the final day, “Pitch with Confidence”, participants will receive training in storytelling, presentation skills and handling questions before presenting their startup ideas in a “Shark Tank”-style pitch session before a panel.
At the end of the programme, participants will receive certificates from GITAM VDC. The organisers said the initiative would also provide students exposure to university campus life and mentorship from experts associated with the Venture Development Centre.
