FTG Opens First India Manufacturing Facility at GMR Aerospace Park in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, June 29 (TNT): GMR Hyderabad Aviation SEZ Limited (GHASL), a wholly owned subsidiary of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd. (GHIAL), on Monday announced the inauguration of Firan Technology Group Corporation’s (FTG) first manufacturing facility in India at the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park here.
The facility marks FTG’s entry into India, its fourth global manufacturing destination after Canada, the United States and China, strengthening the country’s position in the global aerospace manufacturing supply chain, the Airport said in a release here.
The inauguration was attended by senior government officials and executives from GMR and FTG.
The new unit will manufacture advanced avionics and cockpit interface electronics for global aerospace and defence programmes.
Developed as a customised Built-to-Suit (BTS) facility, it has been established within the 277-acre GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park.
Speaking on the occasion, GMR Airport Land Development CEO Aman Kapoor said FTG’s entry into the park represented a major step towards building a globally competitive aerospace manufacturing ecosystem in India.
He said the partnership reflected the growing confidence of global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India’s manufacturing capabilities and GMR’s ability to deliver customised world-class infrastructure.
Kapoor said FTG’s presence would strengthen domestic and export supply chains, promote indigenisation and further establish Hyderabad as a leading aerospace and industrial hub.
FTG President and CEO Brad Bourne said the company’s first manufacturing facility in India marked a strategic milestone in its global expansion.
He said India’s strong engineering talent, rapidly growing aerospace and defence sector and favourable manufacturing ecosystem made it an ideal location for expansion.
Bourne said the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park’s integrated airport-led ecosystem and built-to-suit infrastructure would support the company’s production of high-reliability avionics and cockpit interface electronics for global OEM customers.
He added that FTG was committed to supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative and strengthening the country’s aerospace manufacturing value chain.
FTG is a global manufacturer of high-reliability printed circuit boards and avionics subsystems for the aerospace, defence and space sectors, with operations across North America and Asia.
With FTG’s addition, the GMR Aerospace & Industrial Park further strengthens its position as a major aerospace and defence manufacturing hub, hosting companies including Safran, Pratt & Whitney, CFM, XDLInx, FSTC, Gretel Aviation, Cyient DLM, Skyroot Aerospace, Schneider Electric, TechnipFMC and GMR Aero Technic.
GMR said the development reinforces its commitment to attracting global aerospace investments while supporting India’s ‘Make in India’ programme and aerospace and defence offset objectives through infrastructure development and strategic partnerships.
