Ex- BRS MLA Balka Suman arrested in Hyd over alleged remarks against Singareni Properties
Hyderabad, May 30 (TNT) : Former Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Balka Suman was arrested by Nampally police on Saturday for allegedly making inflammatory remarks against public property, including installations of the state-owned The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
Police said the case was registered on Wednesday under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act based on a complaint lodged by a Singareni employee.
According to the complaint, Suman allegedly made statements during a recent party workers’ meeting in Hyderabad that were interpreted as encouraging party cadres to target or damage Singareni establishments and other public properties.
Acting on the case, Nampally police arrested the former legislator from the BRS headquarters, BRS Bhavan, and shifted him to the Nampally Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Police officials said Suman would be produced before a magistrate after completion of formalities, including a medical examination, and would seek judicial remand.
The arrest comes amid political controversy over the remarks, with police maintaining that action was taken based on the complaint and the contents of the statements under investigation.
Further investigation is in progress.
