Etihad Airways launches daily non-stop Abu Dhabi-Tashkent service
New Delhi, Aug 11 (TNT): Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday launched a daily non-stop service between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent, marking its entry into Uzbekistan and strengthening connectivity between Central Asia and global destinations.
The airline celebrated the arrival of its inaugural flight in Tashkent, describing the new route as a new gateway between Uzbekistan, the UAE and Etihad’s growing international network.
Through Abu Dhabi, passengers from Uzbekistan will have access to destinations across the Gulf Cooperation Council, Europe, the Levant and North America, the airline said in a release.
The launch is complemented by Etihad’s codeshare partnership with Uzbekistan Airways, enabling passengers to travel from Tashkent to eight destinations in Uzbekistan, including Andijan, Bukhara, Fergana, Namangan, Nukus, Samarkand, Termez and Urgench.
The new service is expected to support tourism, business connectivity and travel between Uzbekistan, the UAE and international markets.
Speaking at the launch event, Frank Meyer, Chief Digital Officer, Etihad Airways, said the inaugural Tashkent flight marked an important milestone in the airline’s network expansion.
“Uzbekistan is one of Central Asia’s most dynamic and fast-growing markets, with a rich cultural heritage, strong tourism appeal and growing economic significance,” he said.
The new route forms part of Etihad’s network expansion strategy aimed at connecting high-potential markets with Abu Dhabi and reinforcing the UAE capital’s position as a global aviation gateway, the airline said.
The service will be operated daily with Airbus A320 aircraft.
From September 1, flight EY830 will depart Abu Dhabi at 2120 hours and arrive in Tashkent at 0150 hours the following day, while return flight EY831 will depart Tashkent at 0335 hours and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 0625 hours.
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, was established in 2003 and operates passenger and cargo services across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.
