Ensure Zero Power Cuts During Summer: AP Energy Minister Ravi Kumar to Officials

Amaravati, May 2 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister  Gottipati Ravi Kumar on Saturday directed power utilities to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across Andhra Pradesh, stressing that there should be no power cuts despite rising summer demand.

During a teleconference with CMDs of power utilities, the Minister made it clear that both scheduled and unscheduled power cuts must be avoided.

He said that even during peak demand conditions, supply should be maintained without disruption.

Ravi Kumar noted that while unseasonal rains and high temperatures could lead to temporary interruptions, immediate restoration measures must be taken.

He instructed officials to act swiftly in such situations and minimise inconvenience to the public.

He added that if power supply has to be suspended due to unavoidable technical reasons, advance information must be given to consumers.

Ensuring quick resolution of such issues is the responsibility of officials, he said.

During the review, the Minister sought details on complaints being reported from certain areas despite adequate power availability.

Officials explained that some disruptions were due to transformers being damaged by extreme heat and localised outages caused by unseasonal rains.

Directing officials to remain vigilant, Ravi Kumar emphasised prompt redressal of public grievances and said all efforts must be made to ensure citizens do not face hardships during the summer season.
