Emirates SkyCargo Launches Dedicated Boeing 777 Freighter Service via Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Aug. 4 (TNT): GMR Hyderabad International Airport has welcomed the launch of Emirates SkyCargo’s dedicated Boeing 777 Freighter service connecting Taipei–Hyderabad–Dubai, a move expected to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a key air cargo gateway and enhance trade connectivity between East Asia, India and the Middle East.
The dedicated freighter, with a payload capacity of over 100 tonnes, will support the movement of high-value and time-sensitive cargo, including pharmaceuticals, life sciences products, electronics, semiconductors, perishables and express shipments along the strategic corridor, the airport said in a release here on Tuesday.
Commenting on the development, Kadhir Kadhiravan, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd., described the new service as a significant milestone in the airport’s cargo growth. He said the route would play an important role in transporting servers and other high-value technology equipment while strengthening connectivity between major technology and manufacturing hubs.
He added that Hyderabad Airport has been investing in world-class cargo infrastructure, digital capabilities and specialised handling solutions to support international trade and further its vision of becoming a major logistics and cargo hub.
Sanjiv Edward, CEO, GMR Aero Cargo & Logistics, said the addition of Emirates SkyCargo’s freighter service strengthens a strategic trade corridor linking key global markets and enhances the airport’s cargo ecosystem through improved infrastructure, partnerships and network connectivity.
According to the airport operator, the new corridor provides direct access between Taipei’s electronics and semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and Hyderabad’s pharmaceutical, life sciences and emerging technology sectors, while Dubai offers onward connectivity to more than 145 global destinations.
Hyderabad Airport said its cargo facilities include dedicated pharmaceutical handling infrastructure, end-to-end temperature-controlled logistics, robust cold-chain systems and advanced security features for handling high-value and sensitive cargo such as semiconductors, servers and aerospace equipment.
The airport has also deployed digital solutions, including real-time shipment tracking through a WhatsApp chatbot, RFID-enabled cargo tracking and 24×7 temperature monitoring in its dedicated Pharma Zone to improve transparency, cargo integrity and operational efficiency.
The Emirates SkyCargo service joins Hyderabad Airport’s existing international freighter network operated by Lufthansa Cargo, Turkish Cargo, Qatar Cargo and Ethiopian Cargo, providing direct connectivity to major logistics hubs including Frankfurt, Istanbul, Doha and Addis Ababa.
The airport said the addition of the Taipei–Hyderabad–Dubai route further strengthens its vision of becoming a leading global logistics gateway connecting India with major international markets.
