Cotecna Acquires Hyderabad-Based Energon Labs to Expand Pharmaceutical Testing Network
The acquisition will enhance Cotecna’s services across the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device and packaging sectors, with Energon serving customers in India, the United States, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, the company said in a release.
Energon Labs is a cGMP-compliant, USFDA-inspected laboratory certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17025:2017 standards.
Located in Hyderabad, a major pharmaceutical and biotechnology hub, the laboratory brings specialised scientific expertise, advanced testing infrastructure and established customer relationships to the Cotecna Group.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Cotecna’s ability to provide regulatory-compliant testing services to domestic and international customers, while improving operational efficiency, responsiveness and capacity across key markets.
Energon will complement Cotecna’s existing pharmaceutical testing network, which includes Cotecna Life Sciences, Shiva Analyticals and Neotron Pharma.
The combined capabilities are expected to support pharmaceutical and healthcare companies throughout the product lifecycle and address evolving global quality and regulatory requirements.
Energon’s service portfolio includes analytical method development and validation, stability studies, impurity profiling, extractables and leachables testing, glass delamination studies, peptide and oligonucleotide characterisation, raw material and finished product testing, in-vitro binding studies, packaging compatibility assessments and regulatory support.
Cotecna Group CEO Sébastien Dannaud said the acquisition marked another step towards the company’s ambition of becoming one of the largest providers of life sciences testing services in India.
Amit Chopra, CEO for South Asia and the Middle East at Cotecna Group, said Energon’s technical capabilities, experienced team and established customer base would strengthen the group’s ability to serve pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical device companies in India and overseas.
Energon founder Manikanth Reddy said the acquisition would provide opportunities to expand the laboratory’s capabilities and services while maintaining its focus on analytical quality and scientific expertise.
