Amaravati, Oct 11 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday virtually launched the distribution of permanent house titles to 939 families covering 22.31 acres at Sarvepalli Katta in Nellore, with the beneficiaries gaining ownership rights over properties valued at around Rs. 600 crore.

Of the total beneficiaries, 701 are women.

The Chief Minister directed officials to distribute permanent house titles to another 4,000 poor families in Nellore by the upcoming Sankranti festival.

Addressing the gathering virtually from his camp office in Amaravati, Naidu said the initiative was aimed at providing legal security, dignity and permanent assets to poor families who had been living on government land for decades.

He said the distribution of house titles was being undertaken on a large scale across Andhra Pradesh.

Around 60,000 families in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Mangalagiri had been granted titles covering properties valued at Rs. 52,000 crore, he added.

Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla informed the Chief Minister that house titles covering properties worth Rs. 900 crore had already been distributed to 2,600 poor families in Nellore city.

Naidu also recalled that titles covering 36 acres had been distributed to 1,407 families in Bhagat Singh Colony last year.

The Chief Minister said the government would provide essential infrastructure, including internet connectivity, toilets, roads and drainage facilities, along with house sites.

The government was spending around Rs. 1.80 lakh crore on infrastructure development in urban and rural areas, he added.

Naidu asserted that the government would continue implementing welfare schemes, including social security pensions, and said thousands of crores of rupees were being spent every month on pensions.

He also referred to the resolution of the issue concerning Garbhakandrike lands in Prakasam district and assured that land rights would be protected.

Highlighting the P4 initiative, the Chief Minister said the programme aimed to eliminate poverty and reduce economic inequalities.

He said the government was committed to combining welfare, development and good governance to build a healthy, prosperous and happy Andhra Pradesh.

Referring to the forthcoming local body elections, Naidu said public support would help strengthen governance at the Centre, state and local levels.

He also said the government had introduced a system for the direct election of mayors and municipal chairpersons in the upcoming municipal elections.

The Chief Minister appealed to voters to elect leaders committed to integrity, honesty and public service.
