CII Telangana stresses stronger safety culture in pharma, chemical manufacturing
Hyderabad, July 25 (TNT): Industry leaders on Saturday called for embedding safety as a core business strategy and leveraging advanced technologies to strengthen process safety in the pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing sectors.
Addressing the inaugural session of  the second edition of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Telangana conference, ‘Pillars of Protection – Forging a Safer Future for Pharma and Chemical Manufacturing’, here,  Sarvesh Singh, Director and CEO, Life Sciences and Pharma, Government of Telangana, said safety should be viewed as a competitive advantage rather than merely a compliance requirement.
He urged the industry to foster a proactive safety culture by promoting incident reporting and adopting technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), digital twins, wearable devices and drone-based inspections.
Stating that Telangana is the life sciences and vaccine capital of the world, he said innovation, quality and safety are the three pillars of a globally competitive life sciences ecosystem and called upon the industry to make the State the safest destination for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Chakravarthi AVPS, Convener, CII Telangana Pharma and Life Sciences Panel and Chairman and Managing Director of Ecobliss India Pvt. Ltd., said safety by design should become a core business philosophy, adding that growth without resilience and scale without safety were unsustainable.
He stressed the need for proactive risk management, adoption of AI, IoT, predictive analytics and supply chain integration, while asserting that safety should be viewed as an investment that safeguards businesses.
R. Sivaprasad Reddy, Past Chairman, CII Telangana, and Managing Director of Rachamallu Forgings Ltd., said process safety is fundamental to building a resilient and globally competitive life sciences sector.
He said process safety extends beyond regulatory compliance and requires strong safety culture, emergency preparedness and AI-enabled safety systems.
He reaffirmed CII Telangana’s commitment to promoting industry best practices through knowledge sharing, capacity building and collaboration.
