CBI Arrests Postal Department Official in Telangana Bribery Case

Hyderabad, May 8 (TNT): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Inspector of Posts of Wanaparthy Division in Telangana for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 from a complainant.

A case was registered on May 7 against the Superintendent and Inspector of Posts, Wanaparthy Division, along with unknown persons, on allegations of extorting ₹1.30 lakh from the complainant and demanding an additional bribe of ₹30,000 for releasing substitute salary dues, the central agency said  a release here on Friday.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused Inspector of Posts red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.

The arrested official was produced before the Principal Special Judge for CBI Cases in Hyderabad on Friday and was remanded to judicial custody till May 20, 2026.

The agency also conducted searches at two residential premises linked to the accused at Badangpet in Rangareddy district and Warangal Cross Road in Khammam district of Telangana.

The investigation is continuing, the release added.
