BRs Working Prez KTR challenges Revanth Reddy to judicial probe into families’ assets
Hyderabad, Sept 17 (TNT): BRS Working President and former Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday challenged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to agree to a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court or Supreme Court into the assets of the families of K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR ) and Revanth Reddy.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of Telangana National Integration Day, KTR said the BRS had faith in the judiciary and preferred an inquiry headed by a sitting judge over Special Investigation Teams constituted by the government.
He said the BRS leadership was prepared to face legal consequences if any wrongdoing was established against it and asked the Chief Minister to accept the challenge.
He also criticised Revanth Reddy over his earlier allegation that KCR owned a 1,000-acre farmhouse.
He said the Chief Minister had subsequently stated in the Assembly that the land measured 67 acres and challenged him to identify the remaining 933 acres.
On the Assembly session, he alleged that the Congress government’s electoral guarantees had not been fulfilled and said BRS legislators were suspended from the House to avoid accountability.
He challenged the government to extend the monsoon session by a month and revoke the suspensions, saying the opposition would raise issues including the promised Rs 2,500 monthly assistance under the Mahalakshmi scheme, Rs 4,000 pensions, power supply, irrigation and farmer welfare schemes.
The BRS leader also raised issues concerning pending retirement benefits of government employees, alleged irregular power supply in rural areas, fee reimbursement dues, water distribution under the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal and the Job Calendar.
He alleged that the government had failed to fulfil its promises to Backward Classes and questioned the reduction of BC population figures cited in the state budget.
On land issues in Sircilla, he disputed the government’s allegations regarding land regularisation and challenged the Chief Minister to release a white paper containing survey numbers, revenue villages and details of alleged encroachments.
He also criticised the government’s handling of properties listed under Section 22(A) of the Registration Act and alleged that private landowners were being subjected to difficulties in getting properties removed from the prohibited list.
He further alleged political vendetta against BRS leaders and workers and questioned the government’s actions in several land-related cases.
He also criticised the replacement of the Dharani land records system with Bhoo Bharati, alleging that it was being used to facilitate irregularities in land transactions and other property-related matters.
During the interaction with mediapersons, KTR also asserted that K Chandrashekar Rao would return as Chief Minister with a public mandate and criticised the state government’s handling of inquiries and allegations against BRS leaders.
