BRS Slams Congress Govt, Announces Party Reorganisation After State Executive Meet

Hyderabad, Apr 27 (TNT) : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Monday criticised the Congress government in Telangana over alleged misgovernance and announced a major organisational overhaul following the party’s State Executive Committee meeting.

Addressing the media after the meeting held at Telangana Bhavan under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), KTR said the party chief had given clear directions to strengthen the organisation and reconnect with cadre.

He announced the appointment of senior leader Jeevan Reddy as the party’s General Secretary, noting that he had recently joined the BRS after resigning from the Congress.

KTR said KCR recalled the Telangana movement and his prolonged struggle that led to statehood, and highlighted the BRS governance model focused on welfare and development.

He cited schemes such as Rythu Bandhu as benchmarks in farmer support.

Alleging deterioration under the current regime, KTR said farmers were facing hardships including delays in financial assistance, power cuts, fertiliser shortages and procurement issues.

He claimed the state was witnessing agrarian distress similar to the pre-statehood period.

He accused the Congress government of failing to effectively implement key programmes, including drinking water supply initiatives and paddy procurement.

The BRS leader also condemned remarks made by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya in Parliament, alleging that comparing Telangana’s formation with Pakistan was an insult to the people of the state.

He criticised Congress and BJP MPs from Telangana for not responding strongly to the remarks.

Announcing organisational changes, KTR said all party committees, except the State Executive Committee, have been dissolved.

New committees will be formed and structured training programmes will be conducted for cadre from village to state level. A membership drive will also be launched to strengthen the party base.

The party passed resolutions demanding unrestricted paddy procurement across the state and warned of statewide agitation if issues persist.

It also resolved to intensify efforts for women’s reservation and enhance cadre participation in organisational activities.

Reiterating the party’s stance, KTR said BRS would remain focused on public issues and long-term political work.

The meeting, held as part of the party’s silver jubilee year, was attended by MPs, MLAs, MLCs, district presidents and other senior leaders.
