BoB, Jio Partner to Launch ‘bob World Lite’ for Feature Phone Users

Mumbai, Apr 13 (TNT): Bank of Baroda (BoB) and Reliance Jio on Monday announced a partnership to launch ‘bob World Lite’, a mobile banking solution for feature phone users, aimed at boosting digital inclusion in India.

The application will be available on the JioPhone Prima 4G and will cater to both existing Bank of Baroda customers and users of other banks through a self-onboarding process.

The app offers key services including UPI-based payments, money transfers, bill payments and mobile recharges, and is designed with a low-bandwidth architecture and keypad navigation to suit feature phones, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

Under the partnership, the app will come pre-loaded on JioPhone Prima 4G devices and will also be accessible through the JioStore.

Speaking on the occasion, the Bank Managing Director and CEO Debadatta Chand said the initiative would help extend digital banking services beyond smartphones and support financial inclusion.

Reliance Jio President Sunil Dutt said the collaboration would enable seamless and affordable access to digital banking for millions of feature phone users across the country.

The partnership is expected to expand the reach of digital banking by leveraging Jio’s network and Bank of Baroda’s nationwide presence.
