Hyderabad, Apr 16 (TNT): Telangana State BJP President N.Ramachander Rao on Thursday accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Indian National Congress of “twisting and misrepresenting” remarks made by BJP MP Tejasvi Surya in Parliament regarding the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Addressing the media, Rao said attempts to spread misconceptions should stop and that Surya’s remarks must be understood in the proper context in which they were made.
He said it was on record that under the NDA government led by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the BJP oversaw the creation of Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand in a “peaceful and orderly manner” without major disputes.
In contrast, he alleged that the Congress handled the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in a “flawed and irresponsible manner”, leaving several issues unresolved.
The BJP leader said the party had consistently supported Telangana statehood, while accusing the Congress of delaying the process for decades.
He claimed Telangana was formed with sustained support from the BJP.
He further alleged that the remarks had exposed a “tacit understanding” between BRS and Congress.
