BJP-Congress face-off over Revanth Reddy’s ‘Gandhi Pariwar vs Sangh Pariwar’ remark
Hyderabad, Sept 26 (TNT): The BJP and Congress are engaged in a political war of words in Telangana following Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s reported remark that the next political battle in India would be between the “Gandhi Pariwar” and the “Sangh Pariwar”, with BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao accusing the Congress of prioritising family interests over national interests.
In a statement issued during his visit to Australia on Saturday, Rao criticised the Chief Minister’s remarks, alleging that the Congress’s politics revolved around the Gandhi family, while the BJP and the Sangh Pariwar prioritised the nation.
Rao cited the Emergency imposed during Congress rule and the 1984 anti-Sikh violence to question the Congress’s claims, asserting that the Sangh Pariwar was built on the contributions of generations of workers dedicated to social service and nation-building.
He also criticised Revanth Reddy over his association with the Gandhi family, alleging that the people of Telangana expected governance focused on public welfare rather than family-based politics.
The BJP state president termed the Chief Minister’s comparison baseless and said the political debate should centre on national interest and the welfare of citizens.
