Bank operations likely to be affected as UFBU calls three-day strike from Sept 28, SBI to remain open on Sunday
Hyderabad, Sept 25 (TNT): Banking operations across the country are likely to be affected from September 28 to 30 following a three-day nationwide strike call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
The strike is expected to impact branch operations, with banks advising customers to complete important transactions in advance and make use of digital and alternate banking channels during the strike period.
State Bank of India (SBI), in a customer advisory, said it was making all possible efforts to ensure continuity of essential banking services during the strike period.
SBI advised customers to use ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines (ADWMs), Customer Service Points, internet banking, YONO, mobile banking, UPI and other digital channels for their banking needs.
The bank also said its branches would remain open on Sunday, September 27, and urged customers to visit branches in advance for transactions requiring physical banking services.
Canara Bank, in a separate advisory, said operations at its branches may be impacted on September 28, 29 and 30 due to the proposed nationwide strike.
The bank advised customers to plan their transactions in advance and said mobile and internet banking, ATMs, Business Correspondents, the Canara ai1 UPI app and WhatsApp Banking would remain available during the strike period.
Canara Bank’s WhatsApp Banking service can be accessed at 1800 1030, it said.
