Aster Prime Hospital Highlights Life-Saving Impact of Organ Donation on World Organ Donor Day
Hyderabad, Aug 14(TNT): Aster Prime Hospital, Hyderabad, on the occasion of World Organ Donor Day, highlighted the life-saving impact of organ donation by celebrating the journey of an organ donor and recipient.
The hospital organised a special cake-cutting ceremony to honour the donor and mark a new chapter in the life of Rahemathula from Parigi, Telangana, who was admitted to the hospital on August 8 and underwent transplant surgery on August 10.
The organ was donated by a close family member, giving him an opportunity to continue his life with his family, the hospital said in a release here on Friday.
Hospital officials said organ transplantation can provide patients suffering from organ failure an opportunity to return to a meaningful and active life.
A single donor can potentially help multiple recipients, making organ donation an important contribution to saving lives.
K Hari Kumar Reddy, Cluster CEO–Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Aster DM Healthcare, urged people to learn about organ donation, discuss the issue with their families and consider pledging their organs.
Sushma, Chief Medical Superintendent, Aster Prime Hospital, said the occasion was a celebration of courage, generosity and a new beginning and expressed hope that it would encourage more people to have open conversations with their families about organ donation.
Consultant Nephrologist Dr Praveen Kumar Etta said the willingness of donors and their families was fundamental to making transplantation possible, while Consultant Urologist Dr Karteek urged families to have open and informed discussions about organ donation.
Doctors, nurses and members of the hospital team attended the event and honoured the donor while celebrating the recipient’s recovery and new beginning.
