AP: Pawan Kalyan inaugurates model tank, ‘Pithikapura Vanam’ in Pithapuram
Kakinada, Sept 21 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Monday inaugurated the modernised Mysamma Cheruvu in Fakruddinpalem village and the `Pithikapura Vanam’ park in Pithapuram as part of his two-day tour of the constituency.
The Mysamma Cheruvu was developed as a model tank at a cost of Rs 73 lakh.
Pawan Kalyan said the objective of modernising village tanks was to develop them not only as water reservoirs but also as centres for health, recreation and community activities.
A walking track, children’s park and open-air gym were developed on the tank bund.
The Deputy Chief Minister unveiled a plaque marking the modernisation of 11 tanks in the constituency at a total cost of Rs 6 crore.
He also visited a photo gallery showcasing the 14 other tanks that had been developed and interacted with children at the park.
Earlier, Pawan Kalyan visited the Mysamma temple on the tank bund, offered prayers and presented silk robes to the deity.
At the request of villagers, he also visited the Ganesh temple in Fakruddinpalem.
Later, he inaugurated `Pithikapura Vanam’ in Pithapuram town, developed at a cost of Rs 1.83 crore. The site, which was earlier used as a garbage dump, has been transformed into a green space.
Pawan Kalyan planted a sapling and unveiled the plaque marking the inauguration.
Kakinada MP Thangella Uday Srinivas, District Collector M N Harendhira Prasad, Conservator of Forests Dr P V Chalapathirao, MLC Karri Padmasri, DCCB Chairman Tummala Ramaswamy, Kakinada Rural MLA Pantham Nanaji, Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Thota Sudhir, Kakinada Urban Development Authority Chairman Thalatam Satya and District Forest Officer N Ramachandrarao accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.
