AP: Motorcycle lifter arrested, 16 stolen bikes recovered in Kakinada

Kakinada, Aug 10 (TNT): Three Town police on Monday arrested a motorcycle thief and recovered 16 stolen two-wheelers from his possession, which were allegedly stolen from different areas under Kakinada and Pithapuram police station limits.

Disclosing the details at a press conference at the Three Town police station, Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Mahanti Kishore Kumar said a special surveillance operation was launched on motorcycle thefts following directions from Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav.

The accused, identified as Garlapati Venkanna, a resident of Ayodhya Nagar in Kakinada city, was arrested by a special investigation team led by Three Town Circle Inspector K V Satyanarayana and Sub-Inspector V Anjaneya Raju.

During interrogation, Venkanna reportedly confessed that he was stealing motorcycles parked in isolated locations and selling them at lower prices to unsuspecting buyers to fund his lavish lifestyle.

Of the 16 recovered motorcycles, three were stolen within the limits of Kakinada One Town police station, four from Kakinada Two Town limits, five from Kakinada Three Town limits, and two each from Thimmapuram and Pithapuram police station limits.

SP Bindu Madhav appreciated the efforts of CI K V Satyanarayana, SI V Anjaneya Raju, Head Constable Sathish, Constable Murali Raju and the crime team members for the swift detection of the case.
