Visakhapatnam, June 4 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will participate in a National Workshop on Seafood Exports and lead a bicycle rally as part of World Environment Day celebrations during his visit to the city on Friday.

According to the official schedule, the Chief Minister will leave his Camp Office in Amaravati at 9 a.m. and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 10.35 a.m.

As part of World Environment Day observances, Naidu will plant a sapling at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds before participating in a bicycle rally to promote environmental awareness and sustainable modes of transport.

He will ride to the Novotel Hotel on Beach Road, the venue of the National Workshop on Seafood Exports.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to address the workshop at 1.50 p.m.

The event will bring together Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Chirag Paswan, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, George Kurian, S.P. Singh Baghel and K. Rammohan Naidu, along with representatives from the aquaculture and fisheries sectors, seafood export associations, marine aquaculture organisations, food processing industries and other stakeholders.

The workshop will focus on the current status of India’s seafood exports, emerging and alternative export markets, opportunities in marine fisheries and strategies for strengthening the fisheries sector.

Beneficiaries will also receive assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMKSSY) and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) schemes.

Following the workshop, the Chief Minister will hold a review meeting with officials on the Visakhapatnam Economic Region before returning to Amaravati later in the day.

In a separate appeal issued on the eve of World Environment Day, Naidu called upon citizens, elected representatives, political leaders and government employees to actively participate in environmental protection initiatives by using bicycles or e-bicycles and planting at least one sapling.

Sharing his message through social media platform X, the Chief Minister said environmental protection was a collective responsibility and urged people to conserve natural resources and prevent pollution of air, water and soil.

“The Earth is our home and nature is our lifeline. Protecting the environment is our collective responsibility. Promoting greenery and using energy resources judiciously are essential for a sustainable future,” he said.

Naidu announced that he would personally ride a bicycle in Visakhapatnam to spread awareness about environmental conservation and encouraged people across the State to join the initiative and make World Environment Day a meaningful public movement.

The bicycle rally is expected to reinforce the government’s focus on sustainable living, reduced carbon emissions and increased public participation in environmental protection programmes.
