AP CM seeks Centre’s intervention to clear chilli consignments stranded at Colombo Port
Amaravati, Nov 4 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday urged the Centre to intervene to facilitate the export of chilli consignments worth Rs 60 crore stranded at Colombo Port in Sri Lanka.
In a letter to Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Naidu sought diplomatic intervention to resolve the issue and ensure the early clearance of the consignments.
He said more than 150 containers of chilli destined for China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore and other countries were held up at Colombo Port over objections relating to permissible moisture content.
The delay was causing losses to farmers and exporters, the Chief Minister said, urging the Union Minister to take up the matter with the concerned countries and facilitate the export of the consignments.
