AP CM reviews Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Accident; Directs Best Medical Care for Injured

Amaravati, June 8 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday reviewed the situation arising from the accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured workers.

The accident claimed the lives of eight workers, while six others sustained injuries. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Visakhapatnam.

Of the deceased, five were permanent employees and three were contract workers.

The Chief Minister held a review meeting with senior state officials, including Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad and Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishek Kishore, to assess the impact of the accident and the ongoing rescue and relief operations.

During the meeting, the Visakhapatnam District Collector briefed Naidu on the accident, rescue efforts, medical treatment being provided to the injured and the prevailing situation at the plant.

Expressing grief over the loss of lives, the Chief Minister directed authorities to provide all necessary support to the injured and their families.

Naidu also spoke to H. D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister for Steel, over the telephone and sought all possible assistance for the affected families and workers.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education and Information Technology Nara Lokesh is scheduled to visit Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

According to an official statement, Lokesh will inspect the accident site at the steel plant and meet the bereaved families as well as the injured workers undergoing treatment.

The state government said it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the plant management and central authorities to ensure timely relief and assistance to those affected by the accident.
