AP CM Naidu to seek Centre’s nod for Visakhapatnam Metro, Beach Corridor projects
Amaravati, Oct 7 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union Ministers during his two-day visit to Delhi from Wednesday and seek approval for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail and Beach Corridor projects besides special financial assistance for the State in view of drought-like conditions attributed to the impact of El Niño.
Naidu will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, besides other Union Ministers.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Modi, the Chief Minister is expected to seek approval for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail and Beach Corridor projects and request steps to take up river-linking initiatives in the State.
Naidu will seek special financial assistance from the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to provide relief to the State in view of the prevailing drought-like conditions.
He will also request Central support for conducting the Godavari Pushkarams next year and discuss with the Union Finance Minister measures to take forward the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub project.
During his meeting with Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil, the Chief Minister will discuss measures to utilise the large volumes of floodwater flowing from the Godavari River into the sea and the proposed river-linking initiatives.
On Thursday, Naidu will participate along with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in the CII Partnership Conference Curtain Raiser organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in Delhi at noon.
He is scheduled to return to Amaravati on Thursday night.
