AP CM Naidu to distribute house-site title deeds to 28,445 families in Visakhapatnam

Amaravati, Sept 19 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will distribute house-site title deeds to 28,445 poor and middle-class families in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, granting them full ownership rights over the homes and house sites they have occupied for decades.

The regularisation covers 399 acres, comprising 19,33,853 square yards, with an estimated value of Rs 8,874 crore, an official release said here on Friday.

It is the first large-scale exercise of its kind in Visakhapatnam, it said.

The government said thousands of families had been living in self-built houses without full legal ownership of the underlying land. The absence of title deeds had restricted their ability to transfer, secure or otherwise fully utilise the properties.

After assuming office in 2024, the government focused on the long-pending issue.

Following representations from public representatives during district reviews, Naidu directed officials to regularise government land on which houses had been constructed, wherever there were no objections, and grant ownership rights to eligible occupants.

The regularisation process will benefit families across several areas from Gajuwaka to Bheemili. Visakhapatnam Rural has the highest number of beneficiaries at 9,261, followed by Gajuwaka (4,353), Mulagada (4,213), Gopalapatnam (3,253), Pendurthi (2,722), Pedagantyada (1,910), Maharanipeta (1,235), Seethammadhara (668), Bheemili (464), Anandapuram (349) and Padmanabham (17).

Naidu said in a social media post that Saturday’s programme would be a significant occasion for families who had been waiting for ownership rights over their homes for decades.

He said the happiness of families receiving ownership rights would be the government’s true satisfaction.

The title-deed distribution is part of the government’s broader efforts to develop Visakhapatnam while ensuring that ordinary families also become stakeholders in the city’s growth through greater property security and ownership rights.

As per the schedule, Naidu will leave for Visakhapatnam at 10.30 am on Saturday and interact with sanitation workers and local fishermen at RK Beach as part of the Swachh Andhra–Swarna Andhra programme.

He will subsequently attend a public meeting at the AU Engineering College Grounds, where he will distribute the regularisation title deeds to beneficiaries.
