AP CM Naidu to attend Southern Zonal Council meeting in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu
Amaravati, Aug 19 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will attend the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah at Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, along with the Chief Minister of Puducherry, are expected to participate in the meeting.
Naidu is likely to raise several issues concerning Andhra Pradesh, including coordination among southern States, resolution of inter-State issues, implementation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and pending bifurcation-related matters.
The Chief Minister is expected to urge the Centre to take steps to resolve issues relating to the division of institutions listed under Schedules IX and X, distribution of assets and liabilities and pending financial matters. Revenue gap and taxation-related issues are also likely to be raised.
Naidu is also expected to draw the Centre’s attention to infrastructure projects mentioned in the State Reorganisation Act, including Dugarajapatnam Port, Visakhapatnam-Vijayawada Metro projects, railway connectivity, airport development and industrial corridors.
The Chief Minister will thank the Centre for its support in establishing the South Coast Railway Zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam and for funding the Polavaram Project.
At the same time, he is expected to seek necessary approvals, funding and Central support for various pending and proposed infrastructure projects in the State.
