AP CM Naidu Says NDA Treated 2024 Mandate as Responsibility to Rebuild Andhra Pradesh
Tirupati, June 12 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said the NDA government treated the massive mandate it received in the 2024 Assembly elections as a responsibility entrusted by the people to rebuild the state rather than a political victory.
Addressing the “Two Years of Trust, Development and Welfare” public meeting at Daminedu in Chandragiri constituency, Naidu said the coalition government had earned the confidence of the people over the past two years and remained committed to preserving that trust through welfare, development and good governance.
He said the NDA secured a historic mandate with 57 per cent vote share and 164 Assembly seats and chose to function as servants of the people.
Claiming that the state was facing severe financial and administrative challenges when the coalition assumed office, Naidu alleged that Andhra Pradesh was burdened with debt of nearly Rs 10 lakh crore, while investors had left the state and key sectors had been neglected.
Despite these challenges, he said, the government restored law and order, stabilised governance and revived damaged systems.
Highlighting welfare initiatives, the Chief Minister said pensions worth over Rs 65,000 crore had been distributed under the NTR Bharosa scheme, while the Talliki Vandanam programme was supporting children’s education.
He said women had undertaken more than 710 million free bus journeys under the Shakti scheme and farmers were receiving Rs 20,000 annually under the Annadata Sukhibhava programme implemented in partnership with the Union Government.
Naidu said welfare measures were being extended to all sections of society, including farmers, toddy tappers, stone workers, priests, imams and muezzins.
He said the government had filled 15,941 teacher posts through Mega DSC, recruited 5,757 police constables and cleared employee dues worth Rs 21,000 crore within 23 months.
On the industrial front, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh had regained investor confidence and emerged as a preferred investment destination.
He said 175 MSME parks were being established across the state and that reforms aimed at improving the ease and speed of doing business were helping attract investments.
The Chief Minister said approvals for a fifth-generation fighter aircraft project at Puttaparthi were granted within 36 days and that Rayalaseema was attracting investments in horticulture, space technology, drone manufacturing and defence sectors.
He announced that a Royal Enfield manufacturing facility would be set up in Tirupati district and that gold mining operations would commence at Jonnagiri in Kurnool district.
Naidu said major technology firms were establishing operations in Visakhapatnam, while Amaravati was being developed as a Quantum Valley. He added that generating employment and enhancing skill development opportunities for youth remained key priorities of the government.
Accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation to obstruct development, Naidu said the government remained committed to transparency and constructive politics as it worked towards the goal of Swarna Andhra-2047.
The Chief Minister also announced that the government would work towards implementing 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative bodies.
Congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 years in office, Naidu said the Centre had extended consistent support to Andhra Pradesh in projects such as Polavaram, Amaravati, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant and the proposed Railway Zone.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav, Minister Nara Lokesh, Union Ministers Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, along with several ministers, legislators and public representatives, attended the meeting.
